Client News: East Passyunk Avenue Presents Craft Beer Day and Italian National Day Festival

East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPABID) serves up a double dose of summertime fun with two festivals on Sunday, June 2, 2013.  Starting at 11:00 AM, Philly Beer Week kicks off with 15 hours of craft beer events during Craft Beer Day.  East Passyunk restaurants, bars and retailers will present opportunities to meet the brewers, try new craft beers, enjoy beer-infused and inspired foods, and shop for beer-related gifts.  Starting at Noon, Italian National Day Festival “La Festa Della Repubblica” will feature a full day of live music, Italian draft and bottled beer specials, Italian food vendors, kids’ activities and a spaghetti eating contest.  La Festa activities are held on East Passyunk Avenue, between Mifflin and Moore streets.  Events are held rain or shine.  Admission is free, unless otherwise noted. LA FESTA - FESTEGGIAMO!
Filitalia International and Foundation presents Italian National Day Festival “La Festa Della Repubblica,” on East Passyunk Avenue, between Mifflin and Moore streets.  Family-friendly festivities will include live music, raffles and prizes, Italian food vendors (including East Passyunk’s Mamma Maria), specialty cocktails, Italian draft and bottled beer specials, a spaghetti eating contest. Activities for the kids will include a moon bounce and face painting.  Confirmed sponsors and vendors includes Noir Restaurant, Mamma Maria’s, The Bottle Shop, Stogie Joes, Candy Rockz Jewelry,  Capo’s Coins and Memorabilia, Gozen Yogurt, Twin Shoppe, Lil Dan’s and more.  Ms Goody Cupcake will also feature an open house with fifty cents off cupcakes. Client Event: Let Them Eat Cake Fondant Food Fest Returns with 40+ Bakers and Chefs

Forty professional bakers, pastry chefs and students present their finest fondant creations during the 9th “Let Them Eat Cake: A Night at the Movies” on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Marion (1301 Route 130 South, Cinnaminson, New Jersey). Dessert lovers, food fanatics and brides/grooms-to-be will converge for the 9th annual competition featuring the best of the best. Guests will enjoy samplings of the area’s finest pastry decorated in movie themes, complimentary Korbel champagne, fabulous sounds from Back 2 Life by Brandywine Valley Talent, and the opportunity to meet celebrity judge Ron Ben-Israel, host of cooking competition TV show Sweet Genius. Client Event: East Passyunk 7th Annual Car Show a Huge Success!

Congratulations to East Passyunk Avenue on the record breaking success of the 7th Annual Car Show and Street Festival.  More than 7,500 people converged on the Avenue to see the 140+ cars and enjoy the family fun.  Ms Good Cupcake also celebrated her first anniversary during the car show, and Philadelphia School of Circus Arts brought the circus to South Philly. Client Event: East Passyunk Cupcake Bakery Celebrates First Anniversary

Ms Goody Cupcake will celebrate one year at 1838 East Passyunk Avenue with an afternoon of flavorful fun for the whole family.   Ms Goody’s “Cupcakes & Cars: One Year Anniversary Party” will take place in conjunction with East Passyunk Avenue’s (EPA) 7^th Annual Car Show & Street Festival, on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 11:30am – 5:00pm.  Party highlights will include a cake cutting ceremony with free cake, $2 discounted cupcakes, special themed flavors of cupcakes and truffles, kid’s coloring contest, door prizes, music and more.  

“Cupcakes & Cars” will features 12 flavors of cupcakes for a special price tag of only $2.00.  Good ‘Ole Reliables daily flavors will include Vanilla, Chocolate, Elvis, Red Velvet, Pink Champagne.  Car show cupcakes will include Doo Wop (Chocolate malt cake, chocolate buttercream, topped with crushed malt candy), Classic Car (Two varieties - Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, topped with special car custom candy piece, surrounded by black and white jimmies) and for the kids, Look Who At My Cookie? (Vanilla cake with vanilla blue buttercream, topped with chocolate chip cookie and chocolate candy).  Summertime flavors will include A Taste of Summer (Lemonade cake with strawberry buttercream), Tutti Fruity (Tropical fruit cake, tropical fruit buttercream, topped with Nerds candy), Margarita (Tequila cake with lime buttercream, edged in green sugar, topped with lime) and Shake Your Coconuts (Coconut cake with coconut buttercream, topped with coconut).

At 2:00pm, Ms Goody will celebrate this special milestone with cake cutting ceremony.  Owner Gigi Andrew is making a custom cake inspired by the car show.  Following the ceremony, free samples will be available inside the store.  Other festivities will include a Kid's Coloring Contest, voting for cupcake of the year, door prizes, music and more.

ONE YEAR OF FLAVORS AND FUN

In August 2011, at the 6^th Car Show, Gigi opened the doors to Ms Goody Cupcake, South Philly’s lone cupcakery.  Now, one year and thousands of cupcakes later, she celebrates a successful and busy year of tasty flavors, creative custom cakes, new products and fanatical social media followings.

Flavors in the last year have ranged from local flair (South Philly, Philly Love, Holy Cannoli), to unexpected twists (Swedish Fish, French Toast with a Side of Bacon, Elvis, Chocolate Covered Potato Chip), to back-to-basics (Honeycomb, M&M, Best Darned, White Wedding, Chocolate Mousse), to fruity flair (Tutti Fruity, Strawberry Limonade, Limoncello), to festive (July 4th, Chocolate Mint), to happy hour temptations (White Russian, Take Me Out to Ballpark), and EVERYTHING in between.

During the past 12 months, Ms Goody Cupcake participated in Yelp’s Passport to Passyunk, EPA’s Flavors of the Avenue, Philly Beer Week, Craft Beer Day, La Fasta Italian International Day, EPA Second Saturdays and more.  In March, Ms. Goody celebrated the “2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show – Hawaii Islands of Aloha” by debuting a different Hawaiian-inspired cupcake every day of the show.

While cupcakes have been the shop’s main focus, Gigi also specialized in custom designer cakes and expanded her product line to include push-up cupcake pops, seasonal pies, cake truffles and cookies. 

Looking ahead, Ms Goody Cupcake isn’t showing signs of slowing down, either! A new cupcake truck will debut for the fall.  Stay tuned for details!

Ms. Goody Cupcake, 1838 East Passyunk Avenue, puts a sugary twist on a classic after work tradition with the debut of Cupcake Happy Hour.  Starting today, and every Friday this summer, Ms Goody Cupcake will debut a new cocktail-inspired cupcake.

Today's starter flavor is a cosmo-inspired "Sex & the City." Other flavors will include Pina Colada, Lime Margarita, Mimosa and Mojito.  Between 5:00pm and 8:00pm, all cupcakes are also a festive price of only $2.00. Cake truffles also are also joining the fun, with flavors like Pina Colada and Margarita.  Cupcake Happy Hour starts Friday, July 13, 2012 and continues through Friday, August 24, 2012.  Happy Hour specials are a great way to stock up for weekends at the shore and summer barbecues. 

“Our new Cupcake Happy Hour is a great way to escape from the pressures of real life and experience a sweet little bite of happiness,” said Owner Gigi Andrew.  “Cocktail-inspired cupcakes can be a perfect end of a long week, or they can be just what you need to get the weekend party started!"
