Eviama’s new
home, leased from Goldman Properties, was created with eco-friendly
construction materials, uses 100% sustainable energy, and features abundant
natural light. High ceilings, oversized
windows, ample skylights, exposed brick, bamboo floors and reclaimed lumber
provide the perfect backdrop for Owner Penny Ordway and her staff to soothe,
heal and beautify the mind and body. Design
elements blend the feel of a modern loft with an Asian influenced sanctuary.
Inside this 2,000
square-foot urban oasis, clients are transformed through award-winning massage,
organic facials, skincare treatments, body wraps, waxing, energy work, Reiki guided meditation, vibrational therapies, spiritual
healing, meditation classes and more. Ordway and her team specialize in 17
varieties of massage that range from classic treatments to Eastern traditions,
including Prenatal, Houdini JINI, Hot Stone Surrender, Aromotherapy Effleurage,
Four Hand Massage, Lymph Drainage, Thai Yoga Mantra, Ashiatsu, Zen Shiatsu, Rain Drop Therapy and Foot
Reflexology. Eviama also boasts 12 types
of organic facials using Dr. Haushka’s exclusive line of skincare products.
“Our goal is to offer balm and beauty
for the mind and spirit,” said Ordway. “To accomplish this, we use superior organic
or biodynamic products and creative methods, serving you in a space designed
with environmental integrity.”
The vast
array of client services, many of which are only offered in Philadelphia by
Eviama, take place in one of six treatment cabins that differ in décor and amenities.
Each cabin features artwork and other decorative elements that will change seasonally.
Cabin highlights are below:
- Artemisia
Cabin takes in natural light which plays on walls painted a beautifully
soothing tone of buttery cream. Services special to this cabin include couples
massage, mother-daughter facials, Dr.Hauschka Classic Treatment facials,
spiritual healing and Maya abdominal massage.
- Helichrysum Cabin boasts exposed brick, more buttery
tones, a large skylight and fine art. Here you can find yourself
enveloped in an herbal infused wrap to cleanse away what no longer serves you,
metabolically and energetically.
- Mahonia
Cabin is especially designed for waxing services. This cabin features another
skylight that conveys the indirect light from our wall of windows facing
Chestnut Street.
- Rose
Cabin showcases natural light that streams indirectly from the atrium windows
through the skylight overhead. The Ashiatsu Bars allow certified therapists to
balance gracefully as they use their feet to work out deeply held tension.
- Oak
Cabin will please those who like less light while being grounded by the dark earthy
red granite counter found there. In this treatment room 'tweens and teens may
enjoy a Little Face Facial (with a parent present), or any of the
transformative body wraps, facial or massage sessions.
- Sweetgrass
Cabin features exposed brick walls and light from high windows in the building's
lightwell. Unique timbers rescued from a church conversion in Manayunk grace
the space while supporting another pair of Ashiatsu Bars.
The new space also boasts an expanded boutique, new sauna, ornate building
features, striking new meditation library and unique green elements, as highlighted
below:
- One-of-a-kind
parquet floors and framed architectural ornaments in building lobby
- Five foot Quan Yin carved from a tree
base and root adjacent to outdoor rock garden
- Warm
hallway featuring majestic timber gates designed to slow and shape flow of
energy in spa
- Boutique featuring fair trade, women made, artisan-owner made and
eco-friendly gifts and fashions
- Unique shopping including biodynamic
makeup from Dr.Hauschka, women’s fashions, handbags,
jewelry, children’s clothing, toys, home décor, wall hangings, artful greeting
cards and statues
- Reception area with client seating and
sunny green views through oversized windows
- Water lily
shower featuring Italian
porcelain rendered to mimic fine wood grain, with chlorine filtered rain head
and chlorine filtered hand held spray
- New petite far-infrared sauna that
produces radiant energy without harmful ultraviolet rays
- Meditation library features striking
city views from wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows, plus exposed brick,
plush window seating and a resource section
- Earth-friendly, non-toxic paint and
adhesives
- Décor using renewable, salvaged, recycled and
sustainable materials
- Lighting is natural or mainly low-voltage
throughout the space
- EnergyStar rated appliances
Future enhancements to the new space will include the installation of a custom-designed greenscaping that is being funded by a sustainable business grant from The Merchant’s Fund. The grant also will provide resources for a new table and equipment, as well as a rebranding campaign.
